Learning outcomes:

After the completion of the course:

  • you are able to communicate in Finnish in some basic everyday situations.
  • you can use simple phrases, express statements and ask questions and you know basic vocabulary.
  • you are familiar with some key features of the Finnish grammar.
  • you can pronounce and write simple phrases Finnish.
  • you can apply your skills in practice.
  • you are able to independently expand your vocabulary resources and improve your Finnish skills using different sources.

  • getting acquainted
  • simple everyday communication e.g., in a shop
  • elementary grammar.

The course is carried out by means of independent online studies, including reading, watching and listening study materials, as well as completing rehearsal activities, assignments and online tasks within the given schedule.

In each section of the course, there are assignments to complete. Moreover, there is an online exam and and other written and/or oral tasks at the end of the course. The course must be completed within two months.

The course covers 2 ECTS credits, totalling 54 hours of independent student work. The number of hours is theoretical and varies according to student effort.
