Note that you can enrol for Open UAS studies at the maximum of 50 ECTS credits per semester. One person’s enrolments exceeding 50 ECTS credits are deleted in the enrolment order. Paying attention to this is important when planning your studies.

Please notice,  that Xamk's degree students cannot enrol Open UAS courses.

Learning outcomes:
The goal of the path studies is to carry out the first-year studies in BBA, Digital International Business programme. After you have completed at least 50 ECTS credits you can apply from open path to degree studies at Xamk. 

Later, if you get a place as a degree student, you will graduate from the Digital International Business Degree Programme for challenging digital international business, marketing, and commerce assignments. The programme, taught in English, will help you become a professional able to communicate with people from various cultural backgrounds and take an active part in developing the world of work.

Degree Programme in Digital International Business offers you wide-ranging competence in business administration in a digital international context. Studies equip you with solid skills in basic business functions and competence to work in the digital business environment. Studies focus also on the use of modern project management and development work methods and tools. 

Contents and methods:
The contents of the studies are in accordance with Xamk University of Applied Sciences Bachelor of Business Administration (Digital International Business) degree programme and the language of instruction is English. The studies are carried out as daytime studies in the group of degree students. The contact lectures are during workdays, mainly during 8 am–6 pm on campus. It is not possible to complete the studies as online studies. The timetables for the fall are published before the start of the studies.

First year studies start with courses on Business and entrepreneurship, Intercultural competences, Customer-oriented marketing, Digital teamwork, English communication skills, Finnish communication skills (for Finnish students) and Finnish 1 (for international students). In the second semester, the focus is on New business environment, Business and financial mathematics, Business statistics, Customer insight and customer experience, International business negotiations, Profession Swedish (for Finnish students) and Finnish 2 (for international students). 

In the beginning of the studies, few courses are taught in an integrated way by a teacher team. The faculty of Digital International Business programme is very international including people from six nationalities. The teaching methods are adapted to multicultural study groups typically consisting of students from various nationalities. Each semester Digital International Business programme hosts more than 20 exchange students from several European countries.

Enrolment and cancellation:
Enrolment on path studies is binding. Open study path students are taken in enrolment order. If you enroll on several paths, the primary path is the one you enrolled on first.

If you cannot participate in the path you have already enrolled on, please let us know as soon as possible by email openstudies@xamk.fi

Terms of cancellation: 
The enrolment is binding. You will be charged. Study place cannot be canceled free of charge. You can still cancel your enrolment, but the course fee will not be refunded. Cancellation must be sent to openstudies@xamk.fi.

If a student interrupts path studies he will be charged the semester fee for the current semester. Fees for the following semesters will be cancelled.

Study grants
Studying at the Open UAS does not entitle you to a study grant or other student benefits or discounts. In case you intend to study unemployed, please contact your local employment office (TE-toimisto) before you begin your studies. If your employer has granted you at least two months of uninterrupted study leave, you can apply for a full adult education allowance from Employment Fund.

You should bring the following documents with you on the first day of studies: passport/residence permit or official Finnish ID.

Residence permit
Students who live outside the EU and the EEA need a residence permit to study in Finland. However, the residence permit is not issued based on studies at the Open University of Applied Sciences. More info here.

From path to degree
You can apply in joint application period forBachelor of Business Administration degree programme during your open path studies, if you qualify the admission criteria. More information here.

It is also possible to apply for a degree student without a formal qualification at separate admission organized by Xamk. This is possible after you have completed 50 credits at Xamk. More information here. The credits you have completed will be recognized as a part of your degree. Please notice, that if you are admitted as a degree student, the tuition fee for students outside of the EU/EEA is: Bachelor’s degrees 10700 euros / academic year and Master’s degrees 13500 euros / academic year.  More information on tuition fees here.
