The payment will not be refunded even if you discontinue your studies.  However, if you will not be starting your studies, please let us know in good time so that we can remove you from the course. This way, there will not be a record of an incomplete course in your information in Peppi. Cancellation must be sent to openstudies@xamk.fi. 

 

Note that you can enrol for Open UAS studies at the maximum of 50 ECTS credits per semester. One person’s enrolments exceeding 50 ECTS credits are deleted in the enrolment order. Paying attention to this is important when planning your studies.

Learning outcomes:
After completing this course, you:

  • understand the fundamentals of HTML and CSS and are able to use them to define the structure and style of web pages.
  • know how to apply CSS styles to control the appearance of web pages, such as colors, fonts, and layout.
  • are able to modify and style various HTML content elements, such as forms, tables, and multimedia, to improve functionality and enhance the user experience.
  • know how to create responsive web pages that function well across different devices and screen sizes.
  • know how to troubleshoot your HTML and CSS code using browser development tools.

Contents and methods:
This course is divided into small sections, where you will be introduced to HTML and CSS step by step. You will work your way through the sections in the order displayed on the course platform.
Each section includes learning material which will help you to execute the exams and learning assignments. The exams are there to make sure you are familiar with the basis of each sections’ content. You can apply this knowledge straight to your workflow. The learning assignments consist of hands-on tasks where you will practice using HTML and CSS markup languages and gradually build a complete website.

This course is a self-study course, which you can carry out independently and at your own pace (within the overall time limits of the course, which is 90 days).

This course is divided into small sections, where you will be introduced to HTML and CSS step by step. You will work your way through the sections in the order displayed on the course platform.

The course covers 5 ECTS credits, totalling 135 hours of student work. The number of hours is theoretical and varies according to student effort.

All the study material will be found on a course platform and is accessible to students throughout the course.

Assesment methods and criteria:
To pass this course, you’ll need to submit all the assignments and exams, which will be evaluated on a pass/fail scale.
