Enrollment for Xamk Pulse studies is binding. After the studies start, you will be sent an invoice by email. The fee will be invoiced and will not be refunded, even if you interrupt/cancel your studies.
You can enroll for Open UAS studies for a maximum of 50 credits per semester. Enrolments that exceed 50 credits will be removed in the order of enrolments.
Xamk’s degree students who are present or absent cannot enroll for Xamk Pulse’s courses. Enrolments by Xamk’s degree students will be removed without separate notification. Paid course fees will not be refunded.
Xamk’s path students enroll on Peppi or Tuudo.
Learning outcomes:
After completing this course, you:
- understand the basics of the design process aimed at creating a good user experience in app development.
- recognize the different areas of user experience, including usability, accessibility, and visual design.
- know how to use essential UX planning techniques, such as user research, persona creation, and journey mapping, in the context of app development.
- understand basic methods for evaluating and testing UX
- are able to create basic wireframes and demonstrate simple UX concepts as part of the design process.
Contents and methods:
This course is divided into small sections, where you will be introduced to UX step by step. You will work your way through the sections in the order displayed on the course platform.
Each section includes learning material such as videos, lessons and exams which will help you to execute the learning assignments. The learning assignments are hands-on tasks where you will learn fundamendals of user experience. The exams are there to make sure you are familiar with the basis of each sections’ content. You can apply this knowledge straight to your workflow.
This course is a self-study course, which you can carry out independently and at your own pace (within the overall time limits of the course, which is 90 days).
The course is divided into sections by topics, each containing learning material, assignment and an exam. All sections are visible, and you can complete the learning assignments and exams within the overall duration of the course. The course has a recommended order and schedule for completion, which will be displayed in your calendar.
More detailed instructions will be provided at the beginning of the course.
A three-credit course corresponds to approximately 81 hours of student workload. The number of hours is theoretical and varies depending on the student’s effort.

All the study material will be found on a course platform and is accessible to students throughout the course.
Assesment methods and criteria:
Learning assignments will be evaluated with points. Scale 0-3 points:
- 3 points (PASS) Excellent work. Instructions followed. Fully meets competency requirement.
- 2 points (PASS) Good work. Instructions followed mostly, but some shortcomings on implementation. Meets enough of the competency requirement to adequately perform the assignment.
- 1 point (PASS) Satisfactory. Instructions partially followed. Deficient implementation and/or doesn’t meet enough competency requirements to perform the assignment.
- 0 points (FAILED) Unacceptable. Instructions not followed. Doesn’t meet the competency requirement.
Exams will be evaluated in pass/fail scale and must be completed and passed to proceed on the course platform.
To pass this course, you’ll need to submit all the assignments and gather enough points from them.

Cancellation
If you do not start your studies, please inform us so that we can remove you from the course. This way, there will be no record of the course you did not complete. Cancellations should be sent to avoinamk@xamk.fi. The fee will be invoiced even if you interrupt/cancel your studies.
Transcript of records
The teacher has one month to give a grade after the student has completed all learning tasks. We will send you an electronically signed transcript of records within about a week after you have received the grade in the Peppi system. The transcript serves as a document if, for example, you are applying for credit for your studies at another university. Studies can also be credited at Xamk if you come to us as a degree student.
